Stringbean from Hee Haw Wax Figure
Name of Lot: “Stringbean” Of HEE HAW Wax FigureBrief Description: David “Stringbean” Akeman of HEE HAW and Grand Ole Opry fame, wax figure and outfit. This was once displayed in the now defunct Nashville Legends Wax Museum. When it first opened in the 1970’s, the majority of the people represented in the museum donated their own clothing. When the museum went out of business over two decades ago, all figures and clothing went into a haphazard storage “closet” (see photos).Stephen M. Shutts, President of Rockology Auctions viewed the figures and accompanying clothing at the time and determined with research, much of the clothing was from the recording artists personal wardrobes. Johnny Cash, Jim Reeves, George Jones and others had contributed to the museum. It is conceivable the clothing on this wax figure was once worn by Stringbean. Stringbean and his wife were murdered at their Ridgetop, Tennessee home in 1973. Fellow performer Grandpa Jones would discover their bodies. The wax figure is decent displayable condition, but showing some damage to improper storage over time. Photos not included.Estimated Value: $700-$900 -
